Currently, the courses offered are divided into 2 in-depth stages – the Foundation as well as the Intermediate Diploma by Vasantha De Silva. The modules will cover all areas required to provide students with top of the line training in professional hair artistry. Mentoring and guidance will be provided by Vasantha himself, Regular assessments of theoretical and practical knowledge will be conducted to monitor progress.

Vasantha is also qualified to provide the Australian Standard Qualification in hairdressing for Students wishing to pursue residency in Australia with a hairdressing certification.




A master of his passion, Vasantha began his upscale salon KESS in 90’s Colombo and has continued to be a name to be reckoned with in the Asian Hair styling world. 

Vasantha threw away an engineering degree to allow himself to be swallowed whole by a life of art and artisanship dedicated to hair. Having trained in Europe and Australia, and winning apprentice of the year in Milan, he began Salon KESS in Colombo. KESS changed the way Sri Lankans viewed hair and the cutting, styling and colouring of it and now the flamboyant proprietor extends his expertise into the realm of hair education, teaming up with world-renowned KEVIN.MURPHY education.

Starting in India styling Bollywood stars, to earning a diploma from the coveted Vidal Sassoon Hair Academy in London, to working backstage at The Paris Fashion Week, and at present, Sri Lanka Fashion Week by Mercedes Benz, Prabath has done it all. Having perfected the art of cutting and colouring under the able guidance of his mentor Vasantha De Silva, Prabath is now ready to train new students at the KESS Academy by Vasantha De Silva. He is inspired by the work of Vasantha, Laurent Phillipon and Oribe.


Wade Blackford


Based in Australia and with over twenty years’ experience in the hair industry, Wade has mentored and nurtured numerous up-coming stylists, and has directed a host of Australian Fashion Week events.

He is also the founder of the popular online Mirrorbox Project. As a KEVIN.MURPHY Design.Director for styling, and the primary educator for Asia/Pacific, Wade has a well-documented passion for the art of hair and is committed to delivering ground-breaking educational methodology while promoting the brand. He also works closely with Kevin and the KEVIN.MURPHY creative team to style the new seasons’ looks in their global campaigns. During his tenure with KEVIN.MURPHY, Wade has had the honour of directing numerous runway events, such as Melbourne Fashion Week, Australian Fashion Week, and Taiwan Vogue’s Fashion Night Out. He has also created countless editorial images and has been recognised for his achievements by his peers.

Janine Simons


Salon owner, Janine has over twenty years’ hairdressing experience under her belt and is a highly motivated educator.

She is dedicated to helping other stylists develop and grow their hairdressing skills in order to gain broader opportunities throughout the industry. Having delivered seminars, shows and education for major brands, Janine has over ten years’ experience educating and mentoring. She is also the director of two multi-award winning salons with an international training academy. Janine is endlessly excited to share her experience and love of the COLOR.ME by KEVIN.MURPHY brand with everyone she trains and inspires. Her approach to training and mentoring is holistic, with her aim being to help stylists define their personal path to success.

The intermediate courses are designed with the professional hairdresser in mind and will give those qualified in the foundations of hairstyling a solid understanding of the core principles involved with hairdressing, cutting, and coloring in a salon-intensive environment.
